Built by a lab that lived the problem

ZirkoDesk didn’t start as a business idea — it started as our own daily frustration running a prosthetics lab.

Why ZirkoDesk was born

Running a prosthetics lab, we had endless trouble communicating with dental practices. Arrangements changed constantly, there was no process to speak of, and conversations ran in parallel across several channels — phone, SMS, email, sticky notes. It was easy to miss something, or to work from a version that was already out of date.

Impressions would arrive at the lab in ice-cream tubs or lunchboxes, with the patient’s details scribbled in pen on a note tucked inside. It was funny at the time — but it was a real gap: in data, in security, and in doing the same thing the same way twice.

And it wasn’t only about the packaging. Shades were agreed over the phone — “something natural, you know, like a younger patient” — and a single case could go through three “final versions” in one day. Every time, the problem was the same: there was no single, shared, always-current version of the truth.

Then came intraoral 3D scanners and fully digital workflows. Today a dental technicians’ lab can serve an entire country — but only when the order process is as digital and reliable as the scan itself. That missing piece wasn’t something we could buy, so we built it.
